Meet Sara Mansfield
There exists a group of people that are fortunate enough to work at something they love. I thank God every day that I am a part of that group. I always knew that a desk was not the place for me. I love to be up and about, I love to talk and be with people and I love to help people realize the potential that exists in them. In 1996 I found myself moving to Springfield to work at Body Symmetry; a place where I can do all of those things. The bonus is that in these ten years I have found a family of wonderful, diverse and entertaining people in both staff and clients. I witness the fruits of their labor in the increased energy and quality of their lives and the feeling of strength and independence that they have. The benefits of a healthy lifestyle don’t just show up on a scale…they are endless. You just have to widen your vision.

Before my arrival in Springfield, I had spent time working in many different areas of fitness and wellness since graduating from The University of Illinois. From a YMCA swimming instructor to a cruise ship activities coordinator and almost anything in between; no job has been boring. Since moving to Springfield I have also worked as a PE teacher and volleyball coach at Cathedral Grade School and a Cardiac Rehabilitation Exercise Specialist at St. John’s Hospital. It’s pretty easy to see, I love to be involved in anything that gets people moving, no matter what their age or fitness level.

My training philosophy is simple. GET MOVING! There is not one definitive piece of equipment or class or diet plan that is everything to everyone. Don’t believe the hype. Instead, take the time you would spend being mesmerized by the latest infomercial and take a walk or simply put on some tunes and start dancing. We all are capable and we owe it to ourselves to take care of the body we have.

I see my role as that of a facilitator and a cheerleader. Ultimately, the responsibility is on you for your own health, but a qualified trainer can show you how to make exercise more effective, more fun and ensure that what you are doing is appropriate and safe. If you do run into a stumbling block such as an injury or plateau, I’m on the job to make the necessary adjustments to your program.

Strength and balance doesn’t only happen in your muscles, it can happen in your life.
